10 Cheap Treadmills With Automatic Incline That Are Worth Buying

Treadmills are a great cardio exercise tool. Having one that inclines makes it even tougher which doesn’t mean more fun but you can use it burn more calories and have a more effective training session.

While you want an incline function you also want it to be adjustable with the push of a button. That can get expensive so here is a list of affordable treadmills that have incline that is adjustable with the push of a button.

10 Affordable treadmills with automatic incline

Here is a list of treadmills under $1000 with automatic incline. The list is not necessarily from best to worst or cheapest to more expensive. This is just a list with all the options you’ve got.

Incline is a great setting every treadmill should have but not all of them don’t especially the cheaper ones often lack it. Adjusting the incline changes the difficulty and burns more calories at the same speed. It also puts more stress on the muscles on the back of your legs.

What is incline on a treadmill?

You probably know what incline means but just so everyone’s on the same page, let’s quickly go over what it means on a treadmill.

Need a good spot to put your treadmill? Click here to find the best places and why.

Incline on a treadmill simply means that the front raises up. So the front of the belt is higher than the rear. This has the result that you feel like you’re walking uphill. To walk uphill you have to lift your legs higher and push harder to make sure you don’t slide down and fall of the treadmill.

That means your leg muscles have to work harder to walk or run than if the treadmill was flat. That means your leg muscles will develop more and you’ll burn more calories.

Using the incline on a treadmill is something to use when you’re more advanced. If it’s your first time using a treadmill, don’t use it, get used to normal walking or running on a treadmill first.

However, even if you’re a complete beginner, an incline function is a good thing to have. Getting used to running or walking on flat treadmill is pretty quick. After a few sessions you can start experimenting with the other functions and incline is the best function to have to mix up your training.

Some very simple treadmills have an incline option but it’s one you have to set manually. You have to get off, lift up the front of the treadmill and extend the front legs to keep it up. This technically incline but it’s not very practical. You want the incline to be adjustable with a button on the console. That way it’s much easier to integrate into your workout.

As a quick side note, some treadmills even offer a decline function. This can be useful but not nearly as useful as incline. Decline is nice to have but there are so few machines that have it, only look for it if you have a specific use case that requires it.

So, because incline is such a great function to have on a treadmill, here are the cheapest models with incline that are still worth buying. There might be a few cheaper options but they are of questionable quality to the degree I don’t want to recommend them.

Treadmills with or without incline are great for High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) This is a great way to burn more calories in a short period of time and also improve your cardiovascular health. A good interval timer is going to make HIIT workouts much more enjoyable. Check out the GymNext Flex timer. It’s super easy to set up and control contrary to most other interval timers making the set up for any workout a breeze.
